Check Domain Age
Find out exactly how long a domain has been registered.
Why does domain age matter for email?
When it comes to email deliverability, trust is everything. Mailbox providers like Google and Yahoo rely heavily on reputation to decide whether to place an email in the Inbox or the Spam folder.
The "Sandbox" Period
Brand new domains have zero reputation. Because spammers constantly register cheap domains, blast millions of emails, and then discard them, mailbox providers treat all new domains with extreme suspicion. This probationary period is often called the sandbox.
During the first 3–6 weeks, almost any cold email you send from a new domain will be heavily scrutinized and likely routed to spam, regardless of your content or technical setup.
How to warm up a new domain
- Wait it out: Do not send any bulk or cold email for the first 3–4 weeks after registration.
- Send internally: Send normal, day-to-day business correspondence to trusted contacts who will reply to you.
- Scale slowly: When you do begin outreach, start with 10-20 emails per day and increase volume gradually over 3–6 weeks.
If your domain is marked as "Warming Up" or "High Risk", you must be incredibly careful with your sending volume to avoid damaging the domain's reputation (repairing a burned domain can take 4–8 weeks of careful sending).
